New cost effective e-payment service introduced by Shell
Customers now can pay for purchases at Shell stations via Shell Saver Card, a new electronic check payment method while having a direct link to a checking account and savings on each gallon of fuel. Shell Oil Products US became the first gasoline retailer to make such a service available to consumers nationally.

The card promoted by Shell is a non-credit payment product. It is issued to consumers directly by the company and has no application or annual fees. The main feature of the service is that it offers a promotional savings of 5 cents per gallon on Shell gasoline or diesel purchases until June 1, 2009 and 2 cents per gallon thereafter. As long as the card is linked to a checking account it has no impact on consumer credit scores.

Customers can use the Shell Saver Card at Shell-branded stations for any purchases except lottery tickets. But they can apply for discounts only on gasoline and diesel purchases. All the transactions made on the Shell Saver Card are to be routed through the Shell network and payment processor First Data using First Data's TeleCheck(R) check verification services. The payment options available with Shell include Shell Platinum MasterCard, Shell Gasoline Card, Shell Gift Card and the Shell Refillable Card.
