Digital new cell site from Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless has installed a new digital cell site in Polk County, Florida with the aim of enhancing service to consumers in Davenport and along the Interstate 4 corridor.

The project is a part of the company’s 2008 network investment of $155 million. As a result of the completion of the project high-speed access will be provided to advanced services such as V CAST and VZ Navigator. The first allows users to play 3D games and download full song tracks and the latter is a location-based service that offers maps, audible driving directions, traffic updates, gas station locations, pricing, etc.

Moreover, the technology enables consumers to access their e-mail and calendars, the Internet and other information anytime, and anywhere using a secure connection with the company’s BroadbandAccess service. Average download speeds offered by the service is from 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.
