MasterCard will provide mobile banking services
A release of ING Romania has announced that ING Mobile Payments service is going to be launched in Romania in December 2008, representing the newest payment modality currently used in Romanian market.

Romania was selected from 50 countries where the bank operates, to be the first location ING Group would test the solution based on the Maestro PayPass system.

The service was developed jointly by MasterCard, Collis, Toro, Venyon and Nokia. Albert Roggemans, CEO ING Retail Romania has stated that “In a few years payment via the mobile phone is to become something usual and we are proud ING and Romania were the first in the region to do that.”

Along with the fact that mobile payment is already in use in France, UK, US, Taiwan and South Korea, the ING Mobile Payments product to be launched in Romania also represents a debut worldwide.

Another innovative solution offered by ING and MasterCards remains the only offer where a client can charge his phone card without going to the bank.
