8 of 13 historic sites completed their projects funded by American Express
8 sites in 13 chosen landmarks were completed under the Partners in Preservation program in San Francisco Bay Area. Through the Partners in Preservation program, American Express has provided $5 million to the National Trust for Historic Preservation to be distributed over five years to help preserve cultural assets. The first region to receive funding in 2006 was chosen to be San Francisco Bay Area.

In September 2006 $1 million was committed by American Express in preservation grants to the San Francisco Bay Area. 25 historic sites were identified throughout the region. In the course of the public vote 13 grant award winners were announced.
