Louisiana Technical College to offer tuition via mobile phones
Users of mobile devices like BlackBerry or iPhone who live in Louisiana state will soon be able to take college courses right from their cell phones. This month the Louisiana Community and Technical College System announced its new LCTCSOnline project which is one of the nation's first programs offering college courses on a cellular device.

According to LCTCS President Joe May from now on higher education in the state will be accessible to anyone from anywhere in Louisiana. The tuition will start from January 5. It will cover 21 primarily education and business courses via cell phones at a cost of $63 per semester hour. May reports that eventually the number of courses will likely increase. At the moment LCTCS already offers a large number of online courses accessible through PCs while the new system will allow two way access.

On the college website students can get class materials, lectures, faculty members, discussion boards with other students and online tutoring. Besides, there is an online bookstore for ordering books and materials and an online library. LCTCSOnline also offers a one-stop choice of enrolling in any of the state's technical or community college institutions.
