Obopay and City launched new Obopay-Citi program
Earlier in October this year Obopay partnered with Citibank to offer Obopay’s convenient mobile technology to Citibank customers. As it is noted in the official blog of Obopay this pilot program is the first time a bank has offered mobile-to-mobile money transfer in the U.S. Now Obopay and Citibank customers can sign up for the service on the site of the mobile payment company. Yet, those customers who have no bank account can still use Obopay services.

Two weeks ago Judy DeHaven of the New Jersey Star Ledger commented on the newly launched initiative in her post “Are you paying with cash, credit or phone?” She noted that the convenience of the mobile commerce services costs money. As we know each transaction with Obopay-Citi program is charged a 25 cent fee with 2.5% fee charged on non-Citi customers for loading money.

Obopay, Inc.  is a pioneering service that lets consumers and small businesses purchase, pay, and transfer money through any mobile phone using Obopay’s mobile application, text message, mobile Web, widget, or obopay.com. As the first U.S. mobile payment service created exclusively for the mobile phone, only Obopay works on any phone and any carrier to empower consumers and businesses with the convenience of mobile payments. Obopay is bringing mobile payments to more consumers through industry-first alliances and is headquartered in Redwood City, California.
