comScore reports ecommerce recession in the US in October
The latest data reported by comScore reveal that the growth in the American ecommerce sector decreased to 1% in the previous month. The slowdown is explained by the lower spending in the mid to lower segments on the score of the economy slump experienced by the US along with the whole world, notes the research agency.

Last year October showed a 19% growth in ecommerce while this year October became the sixth month in a period during which growth dropped. Gian Fulgoni, chairman of comScore, expressed the expectations that the recent sharp drop in oil prices would cause a continued easing of inflation and a strengthening in consumer spending as long as the holiday shopping season is nearing.

Meantime, Shop.org and Shopzilla released the study results which prompt that despite dismal figures Internet merchants are quite optimistic over the forthcoming Christmas shopping season. More than half of retailers expect online sales to increase by at least 15% in coparison with the previous year festive period.
