One more bank in Australia is going to introduce mobile banking. The Commonwealth Bank will complement existing list of banks already offering this kind of services across the country. At the moment mobile banking is provided by ANZ, Bank of Queensland, NAB and Suncorp. The bank announced about its initiative in an internal memo released to bank staff.

Using the service that will be launched next week customers will be able to get mobile-friendly access to account balance and recent transaction data. Besides, customers will be provided with GPS-enabled ATM and branch locator. They will also have ability to download CommSec's existing iPhone application. As for transfer capabilities they are expected to be launched by March 2009.

The application for mobile banking operations was designed to support most mobile devices, including the Apple iPhone. Customers who currently have their accounts with the bank can access the service immediately using the next generation version of NetBank and registered for SMS or token-based security. New customers will have to register for NetBank and SMS security to gain access.
