Online banking facilitated by Gemalto’s optical reader
Online banking operations will be more secure with the new device introduced recently by Gemalto. The company announced the release of its Ezio Optical Reader, an optical authentication device that’s compact enough to fit in a wallet. Gemalto expects the device to offer maximum convenience for e-banking services along with the banking card.

Ezio Optical Reader based on the high security technologies offered by the EMV banking cards can capture all the information that users enter from a keypad for conducting online transactions. This will further save time apart from avoiding cumbersome typing. The optical sensor is compatible with MasterCard CAP (Chip Authentication Program), Visa DPA (Dynamic Passcode Authentication) and German Sm@rt TAN (Temporary Account Number).

The device operates this way. A user presents it in front of his/her PC screen and immediately the data necessary for authentication purposes and signature generation are read. There is no need in any new software installation.

Gemalto products and services are used for various purposes like telecommunications, financial services, e-government, identity and access management, multimedia content, digital rights management, IT security, mass transit and other applications.
