[img_assist|nid=11112|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=66]Today the retailers pay more attention to the Web than ever before. According to the Forrest Research predictions online retail sales will grow 12 % this holiday season.

Research out Wednesday by NRF's digital division, Shop.org, and shopping search site Shopzilla, shows online retailers even more optimistic: 56,1 % expect their holiday sales will be up at least 15% from last year.

According to Web marketing firm ComScore, online holiday sales overall rose 19% between 2006 and 2007.

Some experts as Scott Silverman, Shop.org's executive director, consider that online retailers are not immune to the challenges of coming holiday season.

However, shopping online continues to grow. And it is not only because the websites are getting better, but also people are getting more comfortable with the online concept. And online return policies are often more liberal than in the past.

It is the fact that about one-third of those responding to the Forrester survey said that they believe they can get a better deal on merchandise online. Moreover, there are still people who can't get to the store or prefer not to do so. And online gives retailers the chance to reach those customers.
