Serbian DinaCard customers may now use their cards worldwide with Discover

Discover Financial Services has struck an agreement with Serbian payment network DinaCard to allow DinaCard cardholders to use the Discover, Diners Club International and PULSE networks for international purchases and cash access outside of Serbia by the end of 2010.

The country we are to take in consideration today is a landlocked Serbia located at the crossroads of Central- and Southeastern Europe. Covering the southern lowlands of the Carpathian basin and central part of the Balkans, Serbia borders Hungary to the north, Romania, Bulgaria to the east, Republic of Macedonia to the south, and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro to the west. Country’s border with Albania is disputed. Serbia is a member of the United Nations, Council of Europe, BSEC and is to preside over the CEFTA in 2010. The country is also an EU membership applicant.

MoneyGram International, a leading global money transfer company, today announced an alliance with Alpha Bank Srbija A.D. to add MoneyGram money transfer services to more than 165 locations in Serbia. MoneyGram established its first locations in Serbia last year, and the addition of Alpha Bank doubles MoneyGram’s network in the country.

Banca Intesa, the leading financial institution in Serbia, is part of Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy’s strongest banking group, the fifth largest bank in euro zone in terms of market capitalization and one of the top 15 banks in the world. The reader will allow users to make online purchases with the security level guaranteed by the EMV banking card.
