All PlayStation network functionality is available again, announced Sony. This includes access to the PlayStation store the access to which will be fully restored by the week end.

However, in few areas in Asia with very strict regulation some features will still be missing. Meantime, other countries will have access to online games like Dirt 3.

Sony PlayStation Network has not been hacked, according to a new statement made by the company in a blog post. Sony spokesperson Patrick Seybold says that the PlayStation Network wasn’t hacked so much as threatened yesterday when a password exploit accessible through its PSN web page login page came to light.

“We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page,” wrote Seybold, quickly adding “Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved.”

Speculations on the Internet reveal that Sony will start preventing gamers who use PS Jailbreak USB dongle from accessing the PlayStation Network. The device sold by OzModChips.com represents an add-on which "tricks your console into thinking that it is a developer unit", a version of the PS3 that is rather more flexible than the one sold to punters, especially when it comes to using third-party software.

Sunday, PlayStation Network has suffered connection problems for many PlayStation 3 models over the day that affected PS3 gamers badly.

At about 4 pm EST yesterday, PlayStation Network players on Twitter started reporting that they failed connecting to the online gaming service. Later the same day, Sony has begun to acknowledge the issue regarding to the problem on its official PlayStation Blog.
