A digital security solutions provider Gemalto has partnered with Zimbabwe’s network operator NetOne to enable underbanked consumers to initiate mobile money transfers. NetOne will deploy Gemalto’s LinqUs solution for Mobile Money Transfer, which comprises of the server, user application, as well as system integration services.

The offering titled as the OneWallet service, works on 100% of the handsets and will enable all NetOne subscribers to perform secure and convenient money transfer using their mobile phone.

At an investor meeting at San Jose, California headquarters eBay was trying to pose itself as a reinvented business and an innovator in the ecommerce industry. The company said that by 2013 the revenue of its unit PayPal will increase twice.

John Donahoe, CEO of eBay, characterized the company as leading a consumer-driven move to make e-commerce faster and more convenient. He said consumers already have a "store in their pocket" because of smartphones that allow them to surf the Internet, shop and pay in one go.

Security concerns do not prevent Americans from using mobile phones to make payments. A new survey from Sterling Commerce and Demandware reveals that 15% of US consumers have used their cellphones to make purchases. The survey polled 36000 US consumers. It found that 96% own a mobile device and just under half a smartphone.

Over 60% of the polled admit that being able to use their mobile phone while shopping to verify product availability at a particular store location is important to very important.
