Google enables faster search for mobile users

Google added new features to speed up web searches for mobile users. On Tuesday at a briefing in San Francisco Google demonstrated a new feature called Instant Pages which allows certain Web pages to pop-up in a user's Web browser nearly instantaneously, as well as a revamped version of its website for mobile devices.

The Mountain View noted that traffic coming from mobile devices such as smartphones has increased by a factor of five during the past two years.

Google leads online search market, what about mobile?

According to the latest statistics provided by Opera the search engine market in the mobile sector is also dominated by Google as it is the case in the PC sector as Google has a significant lead over its rivals while its competitors hardly can be confronted to it.

Opera State of the Mobile Report shows that Google's search portal accounts "for more than 9% of all page views on the mobile Web." Meantime Yahoo only shares 4.3% of page views with Microsoft having miserable 0.03%.

Baidu reports a 40% revenue increase further outstripping Google in China

 On Monday top Chinese search engine Baidu reported a 40% increase in its net income. The figures come as the company is further strengthening its competitive position in the face of challenges posed by Google.

"Today more than ever Baidu is the number one search engine in China," said company CEO Robin Li in a call with analysts.
