Facebook helps US intelligence agencies spy on Americans, says Julian Assange

Facebook complacently provides US government with a way to spy on American people said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who called the social networking website "the most appalling spying machine ever invented."

Social networking media like Facebook has all built-in methods for U.S. intelligence personnel to snoop on users of the site, Assange claims. Users' information, including names, locations, relationships, friends, and communications are all there for the government to see.

A hacker group called Anonymous which is in sympathy with WikiLeaks announced it will publish emails obtained from Bank of America Corp.

Anonymous, which has no relation to the whistleblowing website founded by Julian Assange, stated that it will release documents exposing "corruption and fraud" at the largest U.S. bank by assets.

US Congress considers a bill to prosecute mass media who follows Julian Assange

Espionage prosecution legislation is being considered at the US Congress. The bill would target WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and all others who do similar things.

Representative Peter King, a New York Republican, proposed this week the Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination, or SHIELD. Under the terms of the proposed statutes it will be an act of espionage to publish the protected names of American intelligence sources who collaborate with the U.S military or intelligence community.

Julian Assange is facing an arrest as Interpol has issued a Red Notice in his name. The global police agency seeks to arrest the WikiLeaks owner for suspected sex crimes just two days after his website started publishing some 250,000 highly embarrassing diplomatic cables. The worldwide wanted poster says an arrest warrant has been issued by the International Public Prosecution Office in Gothenburg, Sweden. Officials there said two weeks ago that they would seek his arrest in connection with allegations he had nonconsensual sex with two women while visiting that country in August.
