14m Chinese chargers for Nokia handsets are defective, free replacement launched

 14 million mobile phone chargers produced by China's BYD Co Ltd will be replaced for free by Nokia as the chargers were found having some problems that could lead to their falling apart and exposing consumers to risk of electrical shock.

"We are undertaking this exchange program as a proactive, precautionary measure. We are not aware of any incidents or injuries relating to these three (models of) chargers," said Nokia spokesman Doug Dawson.
