Microsoft is developing a new version of Internet Explorer 8 in association with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre. The browser will provide parents and children with easy access to advice and information.

Such a customized browser is being designed by Microsoft to provide users with the opportunity to adjust their browser so that they can get direct access to CEOP's advice pages.

Parents now can prevent children from unwilling content on YouTube

YouTube has introduced a new optional feature to allow parents set up a video mode that will prevent their offsprings from seeing an abusive and obscene content on the website.

The Safety Mode allows users to filter potentially objectionable content from YouTube that might not be nixed under its community guidelines, such as war coverage or a newsworthy video that contains violence. Besides, parents also can filter obscene user comments.

Hackers attack Australian government protesting against online porn filter

Australian government websites were disabled on Wednesday by a group of computer hackers who tried to express their protect against a planned Internet filter on porn production.

According to the reports confirmed by the Attorney General’s Department Australia’s parliamentary website was down for about an hour. The attack also hit the website of the Communications Department, which is pushing a compulsory internet filter for pornography and offensive content.

Internet community in Australia is expressing its strong opposition to the government’s plans to censor the Internet in a move to supposedly “protect children” against abusive content. www.internetblackout.com.au/ is calling for opponents of the government's plans to black out their profile picture on social networking sites, black out their websites, write to their MP and join a real world protest too.
