Payment system Moneybookers has launched a Facebook application to send and receive money over a profile on a social network site.

At the moment the software is put in the  trial beta mode and it is planned to be rolled out in June. Anyone using Facebook will be able to make payments to and from each other.

One of the biggest online auctions, eBay.com, has announced a new payment option available for the US customers  - PayPal Pay Later, a convenient and secure credit service. A new payment option is issued by GE Money Bank, one of the leaders among credit providers.  Owing to this service the users can delay payment for 90 days for the purchases ranging from $50 to $199.


Chaps euro system is to be shut down

Apacs, the UK payment association, scheduled to shut down its Chaps euro clearing service today. The systems started its operation in January 1999and provided a same-day domestic euro service. The association came to this decision after reviewing the UK's position on the euro.

The recent First Annapolis Consulting Inc. survey defined that the majority of mid-sized e-commerce retailers give preference not to major-brand credit card but to the alternative payment forms. The survey of 83 retailers whose annual online sales vary from $5 million to $10 million shows that 41% of the merchants accept alternative
