From simple online diaries, many of today's blogs become a real business with a real profit for those people who attract from what they publish even tens of thousands of unique visits per day. There are numbers with 6 figures involved in this game. Many internet users choose to make a blog-based Internet business. But the biggest part of the more than 75 millions of blogs existing today, according to Technorati.com, still remain just online personal diaries. This doesn't stop the fast-growing number of new blogs that appear daily, estimated at 120,000 new blogs per day. And the explosion of the blogosphere will continue at least until the year of 2010, when there will be at least 200 million blogs. Nowadays, for at least 50,000 authors of the most popular blogs, the sums made last year raised with more than 500 million dollars. Top-earning blogs are : "Endgaget", "BoingBoing", "Gizmodo" or "Tech-crunch". Even though figures may be small to traditional off-line companies, the things are different when you consider that we talk about blogs. The first 500 bloggers from this top earned from ads and other blog sources , almost 20% of the entire sum, about 100 million dollars. That means that everyone of them made 200,000 $ last year, or over 16,500$ a month. Probably a very good reason for many of them to quit jobs and start dedicate entirely to blog content creation. A good blogger spends a few hours a day for producing high-interest content for his blog. Many of the most popular blogs work with companies like Blogads, GrawkerMedia, Federated Media Publishing or Weblogs, that operate with more blogs, offering the ad companies more ways to reach a larger and variated public. Cases of business-man that turned blogs to a real business is whatever small, but there are many users that earn as much as 1,000$ a month just from publishing they're own thoughts or opinions. A cause of this may also be the fact that everyday, beside those estimated 120,000 new blogs, there appear about 3000-7000 spam-blogs.
