Failure of a century for the FBI…or on whom does America gamble?

On July 28, 2004 indicators of VPN connection to the Internet of tens of thousands of users worldwide have begun blinking nervously and directed swarm of bits and bytes to shocking post appeared on probably the most legendary resource of carders in the Internet history. On CarderPlanet.com had appeared the message posted by admin King_Arthur beginning with the following words: «Good day, dear and, in one sense, native forum participants. So, it’s high time to tell you a bad news: it’s time to close our forum…”

In reality it seemed like this:

Special services of the whole world were looking forward to that day hoping that carding era had drawn to a close and CerderPalnet.com resource as well as its creator would be effectively counteracted.

Alien guest

It is known for certain that community of carders, which was romantically divided into hierarchical mafia positions, was headed by 35-40 year old person whose name is still associated with carding and put on the first page by Google. His name was Script. Judging by organization structure and multilingual content control system on the site this person knew 6 languages: Chinese, English, French, Hebrew, Japanese and Arabic. The real name of Script has not been ascertained yet and in this article we will try to find out reason. According to information that the editors of ECJ managed to collect the creation of CarderPlanet.com could had been initiated by resident of the USA El Marchani who was ordered by the special services of the USA to create a site – community of carders to discuss all the relevant issues between the user interested in this topic. At this the idea of the FBI is clear to the limit: total control over such sphere of fraud as carding. They suppose that there were resident of the USA and officer of U.S. Postal Greg Craab behind El Mariachi. There is an opinion that curator of El Mariachi was FBI Agent Steve Butler. This supposition is backed by the fact that user Script has not been found yet though there were the wide-scaled operations to catch him that resulted in incident the absurdity of which can go down in history of world Internet and into books on violations of human rights.

There is an opinion that having no ideas on how to justify the accusations against CarderPlanet.com, the special services ventured on a frantic gesture: they saw on website a scanned passport copy of a person, born in 1983 and registered in Odessa (Ukraine), whose name was Dmitry Golubov. After the officers of special service have got the passport, it was a pie for them to create a legend about some person who has stolen a significant part of card holders in the USA. And in particular after some time passed since the moment when passport had been found many Americans got a letter reading as follows:

“I, Golubov Dmitry Ivanovich, a creator of Carderplanet.com every day steal from residents of the USA, crack banks and I’m a godfather of the hacker Mafia. I’m not afraid of anything as Ukrainian police is with me. In witness of my fearlessness, I publish a scanned copy of my passport and my home address as well.” Undoubtedly such text made average statistical American to believe that elusive Script is Dmitry Golubov, the man from scanned passport. And special services got a free hand to begin operation on catch of Script.

Nice-looking, intelligent young man looking at us from passport photo soon was accused in organization of cyber criminal community and in serious fraud with plastic cards. Amount of loss imputed to Golubov was 4000,000$. Of course, in view of specific character of this case it was very hard for the editors of ECJ to find all the details of how the crime had been fabricated. However, this investigation was exposed and instead of accusations of Golubov there began to appear some proofs that around Dmitry were occurring probably the biggest falsification in the history of special services.

Today any professional IT specialist can say that using proxy and VPN connections one can quietly run any activity on the Internet without fair of being noticed for a long time. And at that time Dmitry Golubov, a young student of National University of Odessa who only just had bought a computer, which at that time was considered rare and dreadfully modern event itself, couldn’t know about this issue. Dmitry was learning the nuts and bolts of computer work, earning his living by writing report works for unwilling students from his faculty. Surely that time he hadn’t any thought that special services together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were fabricating a case against him. And that the same Script was continuing building his carding empire, which despite being damaged with closing of CarderPlanet was actively developing on the dozens of other forums in the Internet.

In 2005 events upon Dmitry Golubov began crowding thick and fast. On July 7 officers of Internal Affairs, being incited by the FBI, U.S. Postal and Secret Service agents, broke into the house of Dmitry’s grandmother. About the seriousness of this case one can judge by the fact that arrest of Dmitry was made with use of technology of forcing the door of house where Golubov and his grandmother were living. Actions of Internal Affairs officers still cannot be characterized objectively as the arrest could be made without breaking in and violation of human rights but in civilized manner. Another mystery around the arrest of Dmitry is brought by the statement of the FBI agent made on the pages of Washington Post telling that they made a hole in the wall of the house to detain Dmitry who was inside that time. There is still no proof of this fact. As soon as representatives of authorities broke in Dmitry was arrested and sent to the capital of Ukraine Kiev, where he was placed into a jail.

Since that day international and Ukrainian Themis had probably close its face with shame as it would probably has no power to observe arbitrariness of the FBI agents and officers of Internal Affairs Agency of Ukraine . All norms of democracy, justice and human rights were canceled when investigating agencies under the pressure of heavy, awkward and slow state machine in the person of the FBI, not always missing the development of high technologies, destined Dmitry to be in jail with the hands of influenced authorities of Ukraine. For a young man standing at the beginning of course of life it became the greatest injustice in his life, as:

- Suit brought against Dmitry Golubov was absolutely groundless that was written by his lawyer in each application.

-All three computers seized from Golubov had not a single program that could be used for manufacture of credit cards. Neither any illegal information was found. All three computers had not connection to the Internet that exclude any activity related to cardering and CarderPlanet.com resource.

From the case papers it became known that while Dmitry was in a jail there were some actions during which a number of investigating officers had exceeded their jurisdiction. In particular, during search in the house where lived grandmother of Golubov some items disappeared without leaving a trace, namely: leather coat, running shoes, video camera, telephone, 3 T-shirts, 2 cans of sprats and grandmother’s pension equaled 450 hryvnias (90$).

Quick succession of events, happening during the period Dmitry Golubov was staying in a jail, hardly understanding anything imputed to him, can impress anyone. The authorities had grilled friends of Golubov, whom they handcuffed without presenting proofs of their implication to crimes with plastic cards, and made sign statements against Golubov. At the same time Mr. Popov, an investigator, pleading a case of Dmitry in the result of active fabrication of case was honored with title of “The best world policeman of 2006” on the initiative of International Association of Financial Investigations (non-commercial organization sponsored by private persons from the USA). This was done to motivate the further development of case against Golubov for whom the day when he had lost his passport became the biggest mistake in his life that resulted in monstrous injustice that had left a black, painful and trace in the life of Dmitry.

However, it was impossible to keep innocent person in jail for a long time even if the investigators had accomplices of Uncle Sam behind themselves, and in 6 months following the arrest of Golubov a trial took place. Apparently, behavior of investigating authorities of Ukraine , which like marionettes being manipulated by their American master, tried to prove that Script and Dmitry Golubov are the same person, was so flagrant that People's Deputies of Ukraine Vladimir Makeenko and Vladimir Demekhin stood up for the young man. They had to show and to prove in action the same America that has set everybody’s teeth on edge what in reality is publicity and democracy. Elected representatives, deputies, to whom millions of Ukrainian residents have entrusted to govern their country and society , took the side of a simple student from Odessa.

Petr Boyko, vice-president of Unity of Ukrainian Lawyers also joined the trial, as he regarded it as his duty to stand for the young man withstanding with fortitude all the persecutions of several state machines that have caught at the sole opportunity to demonstrate the punishment of fraudsters to report taxpayers of all countries and the banks, which during 60 years are not able explain common people how it happens that the praised security systems, which have been developed in advertized Silicon Valley, fall under the force of hackers.
As a result according to the law of Ukraine Dmitry Golubov has bailed out of prison owing to that two People's Deputies. And what about big volumes case there were nothing except the numbers of credit cards and millions of some e-mail addresses, names of banks? Having no evidences of inculpatory they were handed to achieve. And what about the investigator who was pleading that case? “The best world policemen” was successfully “promoted” and transferred from Kiev to Zhitomir, from where he was also fired. According to his colleagues he was fired for constant corruption scandals on bribes, putting arms and drugs to the businessmen, which could be read after entering his name in any search system. Today Boris Borisovich Popov is driving new Porsche Cayenne bough seemingly for a salary of investigator and for the last cents that he was spending for getting copies of case papers. So, our dear friends take care of the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves. The FBI agent who was pleading this case was also fired as he couldn’t finish this case and remove all the suspicions from the FBI. They say that Americans offered to install tens of computers in Ukrainian UBOP if they arrest Golubov. But Americans as usual have used and threw away, having presented only two mouse carpets and a couple of pens. Though trifle but pleasant.

Mature policy of the young hero

As long as independent mass media exists, for which it is important to give any person an opportunity to be heard, so long will exist the justice that was lacked so much by today’s society, even if it was recognized as democratic and highly developed one. As soon as trial has been finished, Ukraine acquired one more free and happy person. However, the experience got by Dmitry, consciousness of the whole situation in Ukraine that takes place in the agencies of internal affairs and understanding the fact that human life can depend on judicial error incited Dmitry Golubov the step to which people usually come only in mature age. Dmitry has formed a political party – Internet Party of Ukraine. Having realized the power of the Internet he took up self-education, having studied all the nuances of computers and now call upon to build a fair, highly developed, postindustrial society that is able to join via Internet. He decided to bring up the matter of his life on the same ground on which he was involved into big and inhuman games of state special services. This ground was Internet. The greatness of Dmitry’s idea was that his electorate can join to the party online as soon as it wishes without any bureaucracy and delays. Owing to this nobody surprises that his business became so successful that party’s website became one of the most popular political resources in the Ukraine: it is read by 25% of the whole population connected to the Internet. This party includes: Sergey Trofimov, a well-known Ukrainian poet and representative of the intellectuals, Denis Grigoriev, world champion in super heavy-weight and twice champion of Europe in Thai boxing, businessmen, teachers, doctors, military men, and students. Such authoritative American edition as Wall Street Journal has called him as one of the likely candidates to the post of prime minister of Ukraine. Even in the USA they have understand that made a fatal flaw and want to correct it in any way. Even there they understood that Golubov is the present and the future of Ukraine.

It is interesting that Dmitry Golubov is building a new and qualitative concept of policy. He creates modern institutions of power that keep step with the time and modern technologies, which are not impeded by corruption, paper bureaucracy and with the presence of financial and computer ignorance.

He actively develops the idea of electronic government, computerization of the country. And to his opponents he wants to show that the resident of today’s world is more than just a society unit. Dmitry faced injustice that was about to run his life, and today he, alone, on the basis of the Internet, is ready to serve the society that has saved him by electing People’s Deputies Demekhin and Makeenko. And today Dmitry, having got such a trust of the authorities wants to join the whole educated intellectuals of Ukraine that connect their life with Internet and not only them, to have an opportunity to appear for them on the top of governmental structures. Dmitry is sure that the time when he’ll be the first to enter such notion as “electronic Party-membership card” is not so far.

However, it will be interesting to note that while the editors of Ecommerce Journal tried to come to know the particulars of Dmitry Golubov’s case, we understood that he deal with the story of a brave man who has turned all the technologies of the modern society against the society itself. The Internet on the ground of which Dmitry was put into prison by efforts of U.S. Postal, Secret Service and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine without any evidences, finally became an excellent platform for Dmitry’s self-realization and for service to the society. Surely not everything was settled in the case of Dmitry as it was desired. Situation with monopoly of the USA for world mass media makes its presence known. From time to time in press appear various articles in which he is blamed in almost all crimes of carders beginning from 1978. Trying to whiten somehow the actions of its special services such powerfull American editions as Washington Post and NYTimes came with publications where they made a skilled frame-up of facts which in couple with not less skillfully fabricated case create that sensation, which millions of Americans got used to hear and want to hear on the way to their job. They read the story about Golubov justifying the actions of national special services that use any methods to reach their goal even it demands remove innocent person.

However, not a single common person reading the same Wall Street Journal haven’t asked himself a question what a right had a simple paper, which have published a story of Dmitry Golubov and came down to the level of yellow press, to cast aspersions on honest person whose guilt has not been proved in view of absence of evidences. Authorities of the USA now became actively live on a false principle of a single enemy. By some reason the authorities of one of the biggest world powers think that there is only one person in each problem whose removal will save world from all troubles. Today takes place an active advocacy of ideology that the arrest of Osama Bin Laden will extirpate terrorism, that removal of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of Iran will solve all the questions related to the threat of spreading of nuclear arming in the world and etc. there are a lot of such examples. Unfortunately, Dmitry has also fallen into the influence of the similar stereotypes. He was groundlessly accused in all troubles that were brought by the groups of carders located worldwide. But this man hasn’t yield, he withstood and didn’t fall under the millstones of state machine that crashes to pieces everything that does not fit in the frames of generally accepted mainstream. He has shown how strong person can be in today’s world and how much can degrade today’s power, which actively imposes the whole world its stereotype of ideal democracy. But this power is not ideal and one should give it its due because it realizes this itself. Power structures and special services of the USA know that Ukraine is the strongest intellectual potential of the whole planet. And the more actively the work at neutralization of Ukrainian potential is held the longer will exist today’s American political and force system that has already crack at our eyes.
