What is your payment method?

ChronoPay offers a variety of payment methods. In addition to credit card and debit card payments, ChronoPay also can offer local payment methods.

1. Credit card/ debit card payments

If you wish to accept online credit card and debit card payments on your website you must set up a merchant account with an acquiring bank.

A merchant account is an agreement with a bank that allows you to accept payment by credit and debit card. This is a separate account from your business bank account and because not all banks are acquiring banks, you can have an Internet merchant account (IMA) at a different bank from the one where your business bank account is located.

With ChronoPay you can either choose to apply for your own merchant account with one of the company’s acquiring bank partners or make use of their IPSP solution.

Applying is easy. ChronoPay will take care of the entire application process with one of their acquiring bank partners.
With IPSP solution you can make use of a Merchant Account which already exists, so you are not required to get your own. This is a significant advantage in that the application procedure is shorter compared to the application period for getting your own Internet Merchant Account. However, because it is not your Merchant Account, the disadvantage is that the descriptor (what the cardholder sees on his credit card statement when he or she buys something from your online store) will not be completely of your choosing. Instead, it will be: chrpay.com/ "your company name (11 characters)".

ChronoPay’s payment platform supports 158 different currencies.
Supported payment methods include:

- Credit cards: Visa, Visa Verified by Visa, MasterCard, MasterCard Secure Code, American Express, JCB, Diners Club:
- Debit cards: Solo, Switch, Maestro, Visa Electron;

2. Local payment methods

ChronoPay offers a variety of local payments methods, such as ELV in Germany and iDeal in The Netherlands. You may contact Sales Department to find out how you can apply for these payment methods.Chronopay coverage area

Solution that works for you

Chronopay
If you open a Merchant Account with ChronoPay, you will be able to choose between two types of connections, which your customers will use to type in their personal information and their credit card details.

ChronoPay's payment page

With this method, a customer is directed from the merchant's online shop to ChronoPay's payment page residing on the company’s server. The customer fills in his/her payment details and is then redirected back to the merchant's website. You do not have to buy an SSL certificate. The payment page is HackerSafe certified. The payment page can be customized to the look and feel of your website.

Direct connection to ChronoPay’s gateway

The customer fills in his/her payment details on the merchant's website with the credit card details being stored on the merchant's server. In this case you are required to have an SSL certificate for your payment page. The SSL certificate insures that the credit card details are submitted within a secure environment. Your website will also need to be PCI complaint to be able to use this connection. You may contact ChronoPay and they will be able to help you to become PCI compliant.

The real-time transaction process runs this way:

• A shopper purchases a few products in an online shop and pays by credit card
• The merchant records the transaction electronically or manually and submits it to ChronoPay
• ChronoPay receives the transaction and verifies whether or not the transaction is fraudulent. Subsequently, the transaction is being forwarded to the acquiring bank
• The acquiring bank delivers the transaction to the relevant credit card network
• The credit card network delivers the transaction to the issuing bank
• The credit card issuer invoices the cardholder. The funds are transferred directly to the acquiring bank
• The acquiring bank transfers the funds directly to the merchant’s bank account, usually on a weekly basis

Bold prospects

“ChronoPay’s vision is the creation of a vast global network containing the required technology bridges and gateways needed to connect all the critical components of local, regional and international e-commerce. This network would connect all of the local gateways, which are currently constrained within their own economic and/or political borders, allowing them to link their local currencies through their own local dominant payment providers, which are in turn linked into the global ChronoPay gateway to the Internet, effectively connecting Online merchants and Customer from all over the world to the ChronoPay global gateway.

Global leadership is the ultimate goal. ChronoPay believes it is achievable.”
