8 traffic sources for free adult websites. Part 2
Traffic will ultimately decide your fate in the online adult business. In this part we will continue our look at basic traffic-building strategies that adult webmasters use. If you can attract visitors to your porn website, then profit is likely only a matter of time.

4. Top Lists.

Top lists consist of small boxes of links which are shared across several adult sites. They rank the listed sites not by their niche, title, or order in which they were submitted but by the amount of clicked traffic the site sends into the top list. If you send the most surfers then your link will be the in the first place. The second best will be second, and so on.

Nowadays top lists are not as popular as they once were because many of them are overwhelmed by cheating adult webmasters who use falsely generated traffic to increase their rankings and return hits. Still, top lists can return more traffic than you send in, regardless of your place on the list, and help you "wash" less-productive TGP traffic.

The quality of traffic from top lists is generally quite good: surfers click the links intentionally; therefore they pay more attention to your website content. Plus, you can place your link on numerous websites.

Using a top list is simple: first of all, choose a couple of the best top lists that you can find, preferably in your niche (you can find them on adult forum like netpond.com/webmaster-link-library). Make sure that they have a lot of traffic to send to you, or else you could end up sending them hundreds of visitors and getting dozens in return.

The next step is to set up an account, get a link code along with a banner or button to place on your site and start sending traffic to the top list. Some of your visitors might click the links and go to other sites, so make sure that you are in the top 10 ranks. The rule is simple: if you want to be No. 1, send more traffic than No. 2 website.

5. Links exchange.

Links exchange can generate good traffic to your website. Basically, it means that one site provides a link to another and the second site provides a reciprocal link. It’s important to trade with websites or blogs in your niche, and never with those offering the same paysite membership as you.

Links exchange generally benefits the site with less traffic and lower PR. Many adult webmasters believe that displaying a link on similar websites with high Google page ranks will enhance their search engine optimization.

Link trades are easy to set up but you need to keep a close eye on them. One of the hardest things to do is to find a resource with a decent amount of traffic. Sometimes adult webmasters send very little traffic in return - and ask a major traffic source for a front-page swap.

Other common problems include cheating – some webmasters remove reciprocal links to your website once you start sending traffic to them, or delete accidentally the reciprocal link due to directory shuffles, page renaming, etc.

Consider a good traffic script to solve these problems. They will periodically search for your reciprocal link and automatically delete websites where it is not found. Traffic scripts also make link submission easier and automate some maintenance chores.

If you want to find traffic trade partners, go to adult webmaster forums. Typically, there are sections called Links Exchange or Traffic Trades. For example, browse through www.netpond.com/link-exchange or www.protect-x.com/search/.

6. Paid Traffic.

Another way to get traffic is to buy it, either from a traffic broker or by buying advertising space on other people’s blogs and website. If you want to use the first option, consider websites such as chokertraffic.com, trafficholder.com, trafficadept.com, trafficshop.com.

Traffic brokers sell traffic from popular websites by skimming, redirecting surfers or catching 404 bound. Basically, you will pay $2.5 - $6 per 1000 hits. It can be rather expensive, especially if you are not sure that your conversion ratio will be good.

The second option is more suitable for small free sites and blogs. Browse through adult forums to find webmasters that will sell you a place for your text link or banner on their site. In this case you will get better traffic because surfers who click these links want to get to your site.

7. Adult social bookmarking sites.

There a lot of social bookmarking sites dedicated to adult content. Their concept is similar to Digg, reddit or del.icio.us: if surfers find something they like - a blog post or an article - they can add it to the adult social bookmarking site and share it with everyone.

Everybody reading the post or the article can vote on how interesting it will be to the other readers and leave their comments. Those bookmarks which have the highest number of votes are typically shown first.

So don’t forget to bookmark your most interesting – and provocative – posts. Users typically vote for news, lists of useful resources or links, humorous stories, conflicts and attacks. It will take time to post to the various adult social bookmarking sites, but you don’t need to do it all at once! Just build it into your schedule and add to a few from time to time.

Here are some popular adult social bookmarking websites:
• adultwebmasterbookmarks.com
• x-digg.com
• sa.lacio.us
• x-tagged.com
• explicitbookmarks.com
• adultdigg.com

8. Online groups.

Another way to drive traffic to your adult resource is to join Google groups or Yahoo groups and post information about your websites on a regular basis. Some groups are simply announcement lists where only you can post, while others are discussion lists. Don’t forget to switch on an "adult content" warning, which will be shown each time a surfer visits the group.

If you choose the right adult niche then online groups will help you quickly build up a fan base, generate good quality traffic and sell paysite membership. Google Search incorporates public groups into its search results.

Don’t forget to check the terms and conditions of the provider of the group and the affiliate program you want to use. For example, the group members can receive your newsletters, but many sponsors will not permit you to send traffic from links placed in emails.

A profitable adult site depends a lot on getting plenty of traffic and converting it into revenue. If nobody comes to your resource, you won’t make money. Sometimes the chase for the surfers makes adult webmasters explore the newest trends, sometimes they prefer focusing on classics, and other times, a new look at old ideas can lead to an excellent result.
