This month is the first month of summer – the most cheerful season when everybody wants to chill out. However it seems that Liberty Reserve is not the one which allows relaxing. Starting from May 29 the users of a system had difficulties with site accessing. A couple of hours later people started complaining that they cannot access their accounts:
From MMG forum:
“I can access LibertyReserve' site just fine, just I can't login. I get the following error:
QUOTE
Account number or password is incorrect. Please check your information and try again.”
In two days, on May 31 Jennifer from LR team has posted the official comments:
"Login difficulties for some users
Dear Friends,
Some of you may experience temporary login difficulties, during first or second stage of login process. This occurrence was traced to our hosting provider and one of their unfinished updates of out bound core routers. Our load balancing server will not allow to make connections if ALL mirrors are not operational. This issue is expected to be resolved within the next two hours.
We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cuase to some of our clients.
May be two hours for LR is not a problem but for people who earn their living by investing in various investment programs those two hours means loss of money, loss of the reputation and etc.
In one day Liberty Reserve has finally fixed the problem and users gladly rushed into their account but alas… Here one problem occurred!
LucasWorkshop from MMG:
sci problem lol
I can't pay trough sci now...
this is realy a lot of problems in 1 month...
Yes, really it is sad that the system that is far from being a newbie on a money processing market has so many problems. Even too sad…
June 02, 2009 has a happy day for all the users of Liberty Reserve because after 4 days of a nightmare they could finally come in touch with their finances. But their happiness did not last long because on June 03, 2009 the site again went down.
ad4mms from MMG:
yesterday LR was OK for me, but today (i'm still trying to connect) LR is down. i can't do my investment
hopefully they fix it soon.
This time Jennifer kept mum about the reasons of the downtime. And it is still not known whether it was a DDOS-attack or they gad some server problems. Who knows, may be today they will post any news since it is a tradition of LR to comment on the problems in 2 days after their occurrence…
One more problem of Liberty is that it always fails to keep its word. In the last post they promised to fix the problem within 2 hours but it took them 24 hours. Last time when they had huge problems with their security and a number of big clients were robbed they also promised to fix everything with one day however this one day appeared to be one week that was a real hell for the users. Somebody can make an objection saying that technical issues are unpredictable and nobody knows how long will they last. But why do they give any promises then? Why they give hope to people easily and fail to keep their word? If they cannot provide the exact time why do they mention that time? It’s not serious and does not fit the image of a respected company. Another issue is their promise to launch the debit cards. The first promise came on November 22, 2008:
“….before the end of this year we are ready to offer a debit card solution for all Liberty Reserve account holders. We are currently working on a design of the debit card itself and copyright materials. We have allocated separate customer support just for the debit card to ensure that all your concerns are addresses properly.”
In December another promise was made: “Please note that we had to postpone the launch of the Liberty Reserve debit card until after Christmas and New Year holidays. Most government offices and banks are getting closed, and we need more time to test the automated loading system to make sure it functions to expected standards.”
And after Christmas a wonderful Jennifer again came with an update:
Debit cards are currently scheduled to be launched February 26, as we are awaiting the pressing machine that will stamp out the cards itself. The rest is ready.
Wonderful news! But… Guess what? Bingo! Liberty Reserve again failed to keep its promise.
On March 01, 2009 all the online users could read the following on the LR’s blog: Debit card price schedule and website order link will become available shortly. You will be able to load your Liberty Reserve debit card directly from within your account and use it in many ATMs and On-line stores.
March 08, 2009: Debit Card update: we are preparing a web page where you will be able to place orders on-line for your debit cards.
On March 19, 2009 another piece of news came:
“Shortly you will see a new menu item on our web site called LR Premium. LR Premium is a membership level that will allow users to …. order debit cards, purchase Liberty Reserve inventory directly from us …”
Last update on this issue was made on April 17: Liberty Reserve Premium service is almost finished. You will see the sign up menu soon.
So what? Today is June 06, 2009. More than half a year passed and there are still no debit cards. Probably they decided not to stamp out the cards but to draw them all by hand? Why do they treat the promises so thoughtlessly?
May be after publication of this article we again will be blamed in having a strong bias against poor Liberty Reserve, or that we were paid by some other payment processor. May be we again will receive messages from Liberty Reserve full of threats demanding to remove all the information on their faults. May be they even succeed and our journal will be blocked… However we truly believe that there will be those who agree with our opinion. Liberty Reserve should become more serious and reconsider its behavior since it is a system that once has raised the standard of online payment processing. Now it does everything to drop that standard. Why the whole money processing world enjoys the progress and the users of Liberty Reserve are suffering from a deep regress? Why not to be honest with the users and stop treating them as a herd of sheep that do everything a shepherd wishes. Users are not sheep, they are PEOPLE who want to get a QUALITATIVE SERVICE but not razzmatazz. Is it so difficult just not to promise what you are not able to do? We think not but unfortunately LR has another point of view.
LIBERTY RESERV GO AWAY!
I MOWED ALL MY MONEY FROM LR = to CASH!
Thanks ECJ
